John Lennon was, without a doubt, a phenomenal musician and artist. When he was in his twenties, he formed another band called Quarrymen. His work with the Beatles included a large number of songs written by him over the course of his career. He also had a successful solo career, with songs like “Working Class Hero,” “War Is Over,” and “Imagine” becoming hit singles. Plastic Ono was a collaboration with his wife, Yoko Ono. The singer gained popularity as a result of his wit, music, originality, and social criticism, among other things.
R.E.M. – $75 million
Mike Mills, Michael Stipe, Peter Bruck, and Bill Berry came up with the idea for R.E.M. and formed the band. They revolutionized the music industry at the time with their innovative guitar solos and revolutionary lyrics! It was on an independent label called Hib-Tone that they released their first album. This band’s early success can be attributed to a single titled “Radio Free Europe.” An EP called “Chronic Town” and a full-length album titled “Murmur” were both released by the band. Their first mainstream hit, “The One I Love,” was released in 1987 and became a worldwide hit.
